David Roche is an inspirational humorist and motivational speaker who has turned the challenges of facial disfigurement into a compelling message that is uplifting. Based on his book, The Church of 80% Sincerity, he has performed in the U.S., Canada, England, New Zealand, Australia, and Russia. He has been featured in four films, including The Perfect Flaw in 2005 that won first place in the Canadian International Film and Video Festival and the Da Vinci Film and Video Festival. He obtained his BA in philosophy Magna Cum Laude at St. Joseph’s College and is a member of the Marin Arts Council in California and president of the Board of Directors of the Society for Disability Arts and Culture in Vancouver, British Columbia. In addition, David is the co-founder of the Childcare Switchboard/Single Parent Resource Center and of the massage therapy internship program at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco.

Mack Driving Skills Safety Challenge

Mack Trucks, Inc. is sponsoring the Mack Driving Skills Safety Challenge during this year's WasteExpo in Las Vegas. It is a series of 7 events, including pre-trip inspection, turning radius, and reversing accuracy. Show attendees with a valid CDL will demonstrate their skills by driving through a closed course  in a Mack® Granite® to emulate an actual job site. Scoring will be based on safety, accuracy, and following safety procedures. Specific scoring rules will be provided at the event. First-, second- and third-place winners will be announced at the EREF Auction on Wednesday, located in the EREF booth.

WIN this 2005 Harley-Davidson Thunder Mountain motorcycle, and drive home looking red hot!  The flame-themed beauty boasts a 103cc streaming eagle motor, and has just 500 original miles.  The motorcycle will be raffled off in EREF's booth on June 10th following the EREF 15th Annual Equipment Auction.  Only 600 tickets will be sold.  Price per ticket is $100, with a limit of 6 tickets per person.  Tickets are available for purchase with registration, or onsite at the EREF booth.

International Business Center

In 2009, WasteExpo has again been selected for the U.S. Department of Commerce's International Buyer Program (IBP).  The IBP promotes WasteExpo to overseas attendees through the U.S. Department of Commerce's worldwide network of embassies, consulates and commercial centers.

The International Business Center includes a special lounge for welcoming and registering non-U.S. attendees to WasteExpo.  Services in the International Business Center include: a lounge setting for networking and a place to meet your colleagues, conference rooms to meet with U.S. exhibitors, export counseling by the Department of Commerce staff, interpreters available for conducting business meetings, and an export directory listing exhibitors' business objectives and regions of interest.  In addition, there will be international registration counters staffed wtih multilingual personnel to assist non-U.S. attendees with the registration process.
